Looking directly across the Ohio River at the state of Kentucky, Cincinnati started as a post-Revolutionary War trading post and has evolved into a dynamic commercial hub. The city, once dubbed "The Queen City" by Longfellow, is still centered around the majestic river with a vital riverfront district.
Visitors can stroll through charming walkways at the Bicentennial Commons, pay homage to the Bengals game at Paul Brown Stadium, or see the Reds at the Great American Ball Park. After a day at the game, head downtown for some famous Skyline Chili or Greater’s ice cream, followed by a concert at U.S. Bank Arena. Newly-remodeled Fountain Square has been a popular gathering place since 1871, offering a variety of retail shops and restaurants. The Kenwood Mall or Rookwood Commons are also popular shopping destinations in the suburbs near the hotels listed above.
Cincinnati boasts several interesting museums, including the Taft Museum, the Cinergy Children's Museum and the Cincinnati Art Museum, located in tranquil Eden Park. Another big draw is the world-renowned Cincinnati Zoo or the Krohn Conservatory, which is located near trendy Mt. Adams. If you have extra time, consider heading to King’s Island Theme Park for some thrills or popping over to Kentucky to enjoy a movie at Newport on the Levy.
Of course, Brian and Kate’s favorite Cincinnati places are right in their own backyard! You’ll love checking out the cute shops, restaurants, and parks near Oakley Square, Mt. Lookout Square, and Hyde Park Square – all close to the church and reception site.
